Fruit fly is a major problem for many food gardeners all around the world!
The female fruit fly lays her eggs under the skin of the fruit by using a stinger on her abdomen. The eggs quickly develop into larva (maggots) which spoil the fruit badly.
Chemical sprays are effective but they are also extremely potent and kill other insects like bees. Therefore, using fruit fly traps positioned in the garden are a much better and organic way to control this awful insect. Unfortunately, fruit fly traps can be quite expensive particulatly when you have to buy 10 or more around your property to be effective.
