tahlia — What about things like loose leaf teas, flours, sugar, etc? For instance can I used a washed and clean jar of an empty mayonnaise brought from the supermarket to store green tea leaves? Or does it has to be sterilized too? If so, what's another safer / better alternative to using glass jars.......
Mark Valencia — Hi Eric, thank you for your advice! I had never heard of using boron before but yes I'll give it try. Cheers ...
eric — Throw a little 20 Mule Team Borax into your wash water and let the jars air dry when finished boiling.. The residual amount of boron on the dry surface will inhibit any airborne molds or fungi from re-attaching themselves while the containers are sitting in the open....

Joy Pickens — I think you have overlooked one of the most important aspects of the obesity epidemic. And that is the government's part in subsidizing Big Ag, especially corn and soy, translate that high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated soybean oil at dirt cheap prices to the junk food makers. I could also add......

Mark Valencia — Hi Yvonne, yes definitely freezing is fine because these fruit balls are not typically bone dry all the way through anyway as they taste better with a soft centre (in my humble opinion) so freezing should preserve this nicely!
